Is protein good for weight loss?

Protein plays a critical role in weight loss thanks to the way it helps you feel full and maintain your muscle mass. How much protein do I need?

A few things determine how much protein you need, including body weight, age, gender, and how physically active you are. On average, adults require around 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight daily. So a person weighing 70 kilograms needs about 56 grams of protein each day.

Active individuals and athletes may need more protein, as much as 1.2 to 2.0 grams per kilogram, to support muscle repair and growth.
